News intern for 48 hours and Crimesider
As a summer intern for Crimesider, I’m responsible for doing research for journalists, compiling data for stories, looking for stories on affiliate CBS sites to showcase on the Crimesider website, and writing stories for the website. I also developed and implemented a social media strategy to help Crimesider better take advantage of Twitter and Facebook. By continually updating pages, I knew that it would let readers know that Crimesider is a unique source of news for crime nationwide.
How my career relates to my degree from RIT/NTID
The hands-on coursework using social media and blogging strategies that I learned in the Department of Communication have prepared me for this co-op. Plus, the research tools and strategies I learned at RIT make me a quick study for using similar tools at CBS.
