Work Responsibilities
I organized and field all HR records and materials for employees and residents. I collected information submitted by applicants and kept it confidential by creating and monitoring files. I used my computer skills and knowledge of different software to update and upload position descriptions, and I scanned and uploaded critical information on the website as well. I designed and created awards and certificates for different departments as needed and provided conference and exhibit support for the HR managers and specialists traveling in different states.
How my career relates to my degree from RIT/NTID
I used a lot of the basic business skills I learned in classes. My knowledge of office organization, file maintenance, Microsoft Word and Excel helped me do my job. The multitasking I used during the school year as well as on the job served me well as the human resource manager and specialists relied on me to work on assignments and projects they didn't have time to complete. The class instructors who impressed upon me to work hard, have a good attitude, show my abilities and be positive in the workplace helped me win a "High Five" award for creating awards for one of the departments, as well as a certificate of appreciation for my positive attitude and good work. From this co-op experience, I see an HR job in my future and will continue on for my bachelor's degree in Multidisciplinary Studies.
