Work Responsibilities
I worked with the OMWI outreach program updating information for calendars and other supplemental documents and taking and tracking orders for OMWI’s MoneySmart, a program that helps individuals learn basic personal financial management. I collected materials for contractors and prepared and packaged information, materials and exhibits for set up at national exhibiting events. I worked with Equal Employment Opportunity materials, making revisions and proof reading entries. I also performed general clerical duties such as creating Excel worksheets, copying, printing and faxing.
How my career relates to my degree from RIT/NTID
I took the skills I learned in Microsoft office: Excel, Word, Outlook and others and used them every day on the job. My courses in organizational management and leadership, business and human resources supplied information I could apply directly to my internship experience. After graduation I hope to work in the area of Equal Employment Opportunity for the government or for a non profit agency.
Advice
Don’t let other people downsize your dreams. Follow your dreams and continue to follow then until you get there. And, most of all, don’t forget to be yourself.
