Finals week is approaching and, in addition to studying, a club of students, nearly 150 strong, gather to perform “Snake Eater” from the video game Metal Gear Solid 3, the title theme from Octopath Traveler, and “The Battle at the Summit” from Pokémon Sun and Moon.

According to a 2023 Bloomberg article, over 5 million startup companies are founded each year in the United States. At RIT’s Albert J. Simone Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, students are working together to turn their dreams of starting companies into reality.

Driven by creativity, compelled by a passion for robotics, and drawing from his background in engineering, fifth-year mechanical engineering student Mike Elrod created his electric skateboard using a 3D printer when he found himself without transportation during his co-op.

Graduate students selected as finalists in the 2024 Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program
The CCRF program is a platform that provides students the opportunity to create content for the big screen. Each year, the program creates a student scripting challenge which invites students from partnered schools to submit their ideas. Four scripts were selected as finalists this year to receive funding for production.

Amy Engelbrecht-Wiggans recognized with 2024 National Science Foundation CAREER Award
By exploring the point at which fiber composite materials begin to deteriorate and how the environment affects material, Amy Engelbrecht-Wiggans, an RIT assistant professor of mechanical engineering, believes there is a way to ensure longer-term reliability. To answer these questions, Engelbrecht-Wiggans received a National Science Foundation Faculty Career Development Award (CAREER).

Women’s History Month poster contest entries showcased in the SHED
As part of RIT’s Women’s History Month celebrations, students from across the university submitted their poster designs to the annual Women’s History Month poster contest. The theme of each contest entry is crafted around a quote from Audre Lorde’s collection of essays, Sister Outsider.
