From hockey games and performing arts presentations to receptions and reunions, RIT’s Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend has more than 100 events planned from Oct. 13 to 15.

WITR-FM (89.7), RIT’s student-run radio station, recently got a jump in power, from 910 watts to 3,000 watts, which now enables listeners in portions of counties surrounding Monroe, some 30 miles away, to hear the station clearly.

Nearly 4,000 RIT students looking for co-ops, internships, or full-time employment are attending RIT’s University-wide Career Fair today in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. Recruiters from more than 250 local, regional, and national employers are on hand, including General Dynamics, National Grid, Moderna, Redcom, Penske, Liberty Pumps, Wegmans Food Markets, and Samsung, among others.

On Sept. 29, fourth-year packaging science major Kassidy Burrows, along with fellow packaging science majors Baylee West and Daniel Pinigin, will travel to Binghamton University to present their research at the “Keep it Fresh!” Student Packaging Research Symposium.

Noon on Sept. 28 marks the kickoff of this year’s 18th annual ROAR Day, which provides an opportunity for members of the RIT community to support their favorite parts of the university. Gifts made during ROAR Day fund the future of RIT across every college as well as athletics, diversity and inclusion, performing arts, scholarships, and more.

A group of RIT photography students dropped in at Roc City Skatepark last Friday with photographer Atiba Jefferson to practice their photo skills and learn from an industry expert.

Political science and marketing double major Christopher Ferrari recently completed his co-op at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). Ferrari, who is from Spencerport, N.Y., received the Kristine and John Simmons Public Policy Scholar Internship Fund to help make this co-op more affordable.

Hundreds of people attended a performance by an RIT-related act during the first week of the 12-day Rochester Fringe Festival, with students, faculty, and staff contributing music, dance, comedy, poetry, photojournalism, in downtown Rochester. And nearly 20 other RIT-related performances are scheduled later this week.

Gardening, piracy, and contemporary art are just three of the varied topics students will delve into over this semester as part of RIT’s General Education curriculum.

RIT ranked 43rd on the latest New York Times College-Access Index, which graded the country’s most selective colleges and universities based on the percentage of full-time freshmen receiving Pell Grants.

Jennifer Whitlock, the archivist at RIT’s Vignelli Center for Design Studies, says a peek into the archives vault can help students and researchers find that spark of inspiration.
