Dr. Branko Mihaljević, participated on May 22nd in an online event organized by Oracle Academy and HUJAK, about the past, present, and the future of software development, with the special focus on the Java programming language and platform, held as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of programming language Java, initially publicly announced on May 23rd, 1995, at the SunWorld '95 conference. As a keynote speaker, Dr. Mihaljević had the opportunity to present a comprehensive retrospective session about "The First 25 Years of Java" and answer many interesting questions about Java language, platform, and technologies' current state as well as the bright future. Together with representatives from the academic community, vocational high-schools, software development companies, and professional associations, Dr. Mihaljević also contributed to a vibrant discussion related to the education of future software developers, with the emphasis on educating prospective Java programmers.
Furthermore, acting as a president of HUJAK, Dr. Branko Mihaljević participated in the 17th Java Zagreb meetup, organized on May 28th. The meetup focused on the 25th-anniversary of Java language and platform. Together with Hrvoje Kozačinski from Infobip and Ivan Delić from Oracle, he was invited to join the discussion on some of the past and current highlights of Java language and platform, as well as interesting modern applications of Java such as blockchain technology using Hyperledger-based solution.
