The First Pub Quiz co-organized by RIT Croatia students

On April 17, 2017 RIT Croatia Student Government Zagreb organized the first Pub Quiz together with Rotaract Club from Velika Gorica. Pub Quiz is a humanitarian event with an aim of helping people in need. The money collected in this quiz was donated to Bićanić sisters.

Gabrijela Brigljević, RIT Croatia Junior student and a Rotaract Club member was an initiator of this cooperation."Rotaract is a club for adults of age 18-30 that meet every week to exchange ideas, plan activities and projects for helping the local community, and of course, to socialize. While Rotary clubs (which consist of members over 30 years of age) serve as sponsors, Rotaract clubs decide on how to organize and run their club and what projects and activities to carry out. Rotaract club of Velika Gorica was founded in 2014, and today it counts around 12 members who are eager to help others and provide them with what they need", says Gabrijela.

I asked Gabrijela how did the Pub Quiz initiative started. "The idea of Pub Quiz seemed as a good opportunity to get funds for our donations to those who need it the most. We held our first Pub Quiz in Velika Gorica in October. It was a great success and all funds were donated to the foster care association called "Nova budućnost,"which has one foster home in Velika Gorica", says Gabrijela. "This time we connected with two twin sisters from high school in Velika Gorica, Laura and Ines Bičanić, who suffer from cerebral paralysis and need extra funding for additional therapy sessions. We partnered up with RIT Croatia's Student Government from Zagreb campus to organize our second Pub Quiz in caffe bar Urban. The atmosphere was great and we are happy to have helped these girls in this fun way", concludes Gabrijela.

Ivan Tabula, RIT Croatia Student Government President, was delighted to host this kind of an event. "Whenever SG has the possibility to help out and organize something in order to help the ones in need, we are always there and ready to act. It was our pleasure that this time we had the opportunity to be co-organizers of a charity pub quiz. It was a great experience organizing everything from scratch with people from Rotaract, and we are looking forward to future cooperation and more events of this nature", says Ivan.
