A Message from Alumni Association New Leadership

A Message from Alumni Association New Leadership

May 29th, 2018

Time flies by so quickly.. Seems like it was yesterday when Nina Mimica, Class of 2007 and Vlado Dujić, Class of 2006 took over the Alumni Association leadership - Nina as the Association President and Vlado as the Vice President. Two years and a lot of active work and great projects later, and it was time for our alumni to select new leadership. And they did. As of April 27th, RIT Croatia Alumni Association selected its new leadership: Mirela Subotić, BS Graduate, Class of 2004 as its President and Ivan Slade Šilović, MS Graduate, Class of 2015 as its Vice-President. Mirela has +13 years of professional experience in Hospitality, Digital Marketing and Project Management fields. Throughout her career she has been working on small and large strategic projects in diverse teams. She takes pride in adapting to many changes in the workplace and organizational structures in different branches (advertising, retail, business consulting, tourism and hospitality).

The strength of our Alumni Association is our diversity

"As the newly elected president of RIT Croatia Alumni Association, it will be my pleasure to share future plans and consistent goals of our Association with Alumni community", says Mirela and adds: "I will endeavor to build upon the projects and initiatives set by former Alumni President Nina Mimica as well as some news ideas through new Action Plan to ensure that the Alumni Association continues to serve its members. New Action Plan is in progress and all members of Alumni will be familiar with a plan soon. One of my first steps as a Alumni President is to upgrade our social networking capabilities to reach out to our memberships via Facebook and LinkedIn and to work on proactivity of Alumni members to be engaged more in future activities. RIT Alumni Association offers valuable networking opportunities that can and will harness solid professional relationships as well as educational topics that can improve our career and your personal relationship. I am very passionate about Alumni Association because it provides all of us an excellent opportunity to continue connecting with an amazing community and make it much stronger. The strength of our Alumni Association is our diversity. With little bit more proactivity of all members I believe it is possible to do valuable projects that can be of a great use for all.

Being a part of the Alumni Association Leadership is a great honor and responsibility!

"It is a great honor and responsibility to be recognized and supported by others in assuming this position", says Ivan Slade Šilović. Ivan has +18 years of professional experience in the IT field and has been working for different companies, such as Sonic bank, MIS Consulting, Toyota Croatia and Shimadzu Europe. He gained a BS degree from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and an MS degree from RIT in 2015. He is currently attending Doctoral Studies in Information and Communication Science at University of Zagreb where he is defending his doctoral dissertation, while at the same time finishing the Executive MBA at ZŠEM. Ivan initiated cooperation between RIT Croatia Alumni and MBA Croatia Association, where he is an active member.

Ivan plans to continue building the Alumni community in the outlined way that Nina & Vlado started: "Mirela and I have already had a meeting with Nina to inform us about all things she and Vlado have done, their plains, ideas, processes and what they learned so far to help us guide in our continuing process. So we hope we will learn from them and build on their vision, with our thoughts on how to motivate Alumni to be active in the association. We are keen to build the mentorship program, RIT VFC in Croatia, some new benefits to members, and I hope much more that will come up during this term."

We thank Nina and Vlado for all their effort and contribution  and look forward to all the ideas coming from our new leadership; we are confident they will continue to contribute to the benefit of all of our alums!
