RIT Croatia's Team "PET" is the winner of Dubrovnik Hackathon 2017!

Six teams of creative innovators, IT experts and programmers have spent 36 sleepless hours participating in Dubrovnik Hackathon 2017 during the weekend of April 1.

The third Hackathon took place in Hotel Royal Princess in Dubrovnik, and it was organized by DURA development agency, with the support of RIT Croatia and University of Dubrovnik. The project was also co-financed through the EU Program Urbact - project TECH TOWN.

Excellent atmosphere, competing spirit and respect towards colleagues have marked this exciting tech weekend, which serves as the best proof of Dubrovnik truly being a city of great ideas and successful young men and women who are contributing to the development of the local community.

The victory ended up in the hands of the team "PET", comprised of RIT Croatia's IT students Tomislav Kulušić, Petar Čučuk, Antonio Šutalo and Marko Zelenković, who won the prize of 5.000,00 kn with their project called the Citizen Card. Citizen Card is a mobile application and web site for citizens' interaction with the local government, as well as with services provided by the city. The specialty feature of the Citizen Card is the encouragement of positive behavior and ecological awareness through collecting points for activities such as the use of public transportation, walking instead of driving, as well as sharing information about the location and the quality of public services. This app would rely on "crowd-sourcing" model of collecting information, and the user would get points which could be used for getting special deals during the interaction with the city or some private partners (discounts for cinemas, paying utilities, discount for buss pass, etc.).

We sincerely congratulate the winning team for this excellent idea and implementation, and praises go to all other teams that have worked really hard and came up with additional useful solutions for improvement of the quality of life in the local community.
