There are many things RIT is known for, but the one that perhaps stands out the most is a career-oriented education. Aside from "hands-on" approach in classrooms, a big portion of learning by doing at RIT comes from its globally recognized cooperative education (internship) programs. RIT has the fourth-oldest and one of the largest cooperative education programs in the world, annually placing more than 4,500 students in more than 6,200 co-op assignments with more than 2,200 employing organizations.

For 25 years now, RIT Croatia has been the synonym for career-oriented education, preparing its students for the global job market. We were the first to introduce a mandatory internship

(cooperative education) for students in Croatia, and also the first to organize a career fair aimed at our students (2000). When one takes into account that each student conducts a minimum of 800 hours of coop during their studies, since 1997 we've had over 450 years of co-op conducted, in over 4,000 companies all over the world, with more than 5,500 mentors for students!

Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted our coop program by introducing additional models such as projects with companies, academic research and entrepreneurial projects. This year, based on the current situation and last year's result, we continued with flexibility in the mandatory co-ops through new models. Currently we have 93% of coops registered and underway, in more than 20 countries all over the world!

Registered increase in international locations for coops

This year we are seeing an increase in coop locations with 16% of students completing their coop's internationally. Currently, our students are conducting coops in the following countries: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Hercegovina, China, Croatia, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Kosovo, Latvia, Montenegro, New Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, South African Republic, Spain, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, USA

Half of the Web and Mobile Computing coops are conducted remotely

Half of our Web and Mobile Computing students are working remotely vs 4% of the Hospitality and Tourism program students. As expected, 96% of them are in hotels, and in service sector companies, conducting their internships via a traditional model. This model prevails for our International Business students as well (77%).

Program (BSc) Coops conducted remotely (%)
International Business 23%
Hospitality and Tourism Management 4%
Web and Mobile Computing 50%
