Večer matematike (Mathematics Evening) online workshop on RIT Croatia

As part of the popular event "Večer matematike" (Mathematics Evening) held in kindergartens, schools and colleges throughout Croatia, online workshops will be organized by RIT Croatia as well. The workshops will be held on December 2 by our faculty, Dr Kristina Šorić and Dr Kristijan Tabak. The workshops are intended for high school and university students interested in the application of mathematics in business. If you are interested in attending please apply by sending an email to admissions@croatia.rit.edu.

"Linear supply chain programming" by Dr Kristina Šorić

Dec. 2, 2021, 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

Zoom: https://lnkd.in/dV7_KJ3x

Nowadays, we often hear that the shelves in stores will be empty for Christmas, we will be left without Christmas presents, there will be a shortage. The reason for this is delays in global supply chains. Ships are waiting to disembark in front of world ports, there is a shortage of trucks and drivers, there has been a sudden increase in demand after a year of pandemic. In this workshop, Dr Šorić will explain the concept of the supply chain, and present mathematical models and methods that we can use to better manage supply and demand.

"Designs and symmetries, application to market research" by Dr Kristijan Tabak

Dec 2, 2021, 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Zoom: https://lnkd.in/dMMMPwHq

Dr Tabak will define the term combinatorial design, which is a method that explains how to symmetrically divide a set of data, samples and the like into smaller sets that can qualitatively represent the entire population. We find applications of combinatorial designs in the problems of asking questionnaires for market research, selecting stocks in the portfolio, crossing various numbers of plants in order to obtain new more advanced species and the like.
