    John Aasp, the inaugural gallery director for RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, curated a juried exhibition titled In the Mix, an interdisciplinary show featuring the work of 34 student artists in a variety of media from seven art programs throughout western New York. Two key figures in the educational collaboration between RIT and Malmo University in Sweden served as jurors for the exhibit at Gallery r, RIT’s metro showcase and learning laboratory for the arts in downtown Rochester. On Dec. 4 from 6-9 p.m., Gallery r will participate in First Friday—Rochester’s monthly citywide gallery night that encourages collaboration between nonprofit, university and commercial art venues. The exhibit opening is FLUX: Keith Howard & His Legacy, honoring the late printmaking pioneer and RIT Associate Professor Keith Howard.

The traditional Pakistani wedding features festive clothing, food, music, dancing and other unique customs of a wedding celebration. The event was presented by RIT Pakistan Student Association, RIT Bhangra and Student Government.

The next class is December 3 and 16, from 4-6 p.m., for “Vegetarian Cashew Chili” featuring chef Oscar O’Flynn in the Brick City Cafe kitchen. RSVP to betterme@rit.edu, as space is limited.     The Alumni Faculty and Staff Chapter and Alumni Relations hosted a breakfast Nov. 19 for alumni who work on campus. Julia Lisuzzo, who has worked at RIT for 20 years, is the leader of the chapter. The 2015 Golden Brick Awards were given to LaVerne McQuiller-Williams, Diedra Livingston and Richard Dirmyer at the breakfast. More than 200 people attended.

    An exhibit commemorating the 150th birthday of Kate Gleason opened at RIT’s Wallace Center. The exhibit was organized by faculty in the museum studies program in RIT’s College of Liberal Arts and is on view through Dec. 18.

    Members of the RIT community held a send-off event for the women’s cross country team this morning as the team left for its first NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship. They run at 12 p.m. EST, Nov. 21, at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winnecome, Wis., hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
