RIT alumna Patti Moore â74 (industrial design) attended a presentation of studentsâ packaging designs for food and cleaning products on Nov. 17. The internationally renowned gerontologist and designer gave two lectures to students later in the day. -

RIT students gathered to honor the victims of the recent terror attacks in Paris and in other parts of the world. Kevin Le Blevec, RIT visiting lecturer in French, organized the event to show solidarity with France through poetry and music. Catch, the animated thesis film of Sarah Talbot â15, was one of 12 films created by RIT women from the School of Film and Animation shown at the High Falls Film Festival Nov. 14. The festival showcases women filmmakers, directors and writers. -

Tech start-up expert Peter Gollan visited RIT as part of the MAGIC Speaker Series Nov. 12. During his time on campus, he also met with students in a game production class where he learned about their game creation, âHack, Slash and Backstab.â He also toured campus, visited Workinman, a local cross-platform casual and mobile game development studio, and playtested the table-top game, Hexes!!, created by another group of RIT students. Gollan, far right, is an RIT 1998 alumnus from the College of Liberal Arts. -

Italian filmmaker Giovanna Taviani attended a reception at the University Gallery prior to the screening of her documentary Ritorni. She will be an artist-in-residence for two days, speaking with students studying Italian, film and anthropology. RIT hosted its fifth annual Veterans Day Breakfast to honor those who have served honorably for their country. More than 500 people attended. Here, Gary Beikirch, one of only 79 living Medal of Honor Recipients in the United States, talked with veterans at the event. -

RITâs third annual Effective Access Technology Conference, held Nov. 10 in Gordon Field House and Activities Center, brought together researchers, service providers and developers to share ideas and innovative solutions for access and inclusion. Examples of technology on the market or in development that are helping people with physical or cognitive challenges were on display. Here, Christalyn Snyder of Viggi Kids, demonstrated some of the companyâs inventive childrenâs products. Viggi Kids won the Al Sigl Community of Agencies Best Exhibit Award at the conference. -

RITâs Tiger for Tigers club kicks off Tiger Awareness Week with events each day. Donations to help save tigers were collected on Monday in return for a whipped cream pie that could be thrown into the face of an RIT athlete. Women in Engineering and Women in Computing held open houses on Nov. 7. Fifth and sixth grade girls explored interactive exhibits and had their questions answered by RIT female engineering and computing students. Genevieve Onderdonk, 11, from Rochester, N.Y., took part in the event. -

Dave Edborg, a patrol major in RITâs Public Safety Department, is training for the World Bench Press and Deadlift Championships in Las Vegas on Nov. 18. He hopes to lift nearly 500 pounds in the international competition. About 450 people from around the world will compete in various age and weight classes, divisions and competitions. Edborg will enter the 198-pound class of the deadlift competition, in the police and law enforcement division in the master class for those 48 to 55 years old. His competition will be lifters from all over the world: Belgium, Germany, Poland and England.
