    Members of the RIT community held a send-off event for the women’s cross country team this morning as the team left for its first NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship. They run at 12 p.m. EST, Nov. 21, at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winnecome, Wis., hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

    RIT alumna Patti Moore ’74 (industrial design) attended a presentation of students’ packaging designs for food and cleaning products on Nov. 17. The internationally renowned gerontologist and designer gave two lectures to students later in the day.

    RIT students gathered to honor the victims of the recent terror attacks in Paris and in other parts of the world. Kevin Le Blevec, RIT visiting lecturer in French, organized the event to show solidarity with France through poetry and music.     Catch, the animated thesis film of Sarah Talbot ’15, was one of 12 films created by RIT women from the School of Film and Animation shown at the High Falls Film Festival Nov. 14. The festival showcases women filmmakers, directors and writers.

    Students from the Chinese Cultural Club performed at Global Union's “Unification: The World on Stage,” a multicultural talent show highlighting the cultural experience and diversity that RIT has to offer.

    Tech start-up expert Peter Gollan visited RIT as part of the MAGIC Speaker Series Nov. 12. During his time on campus, he also met with students in a game production class where he learned about their game creation, “Hack, Slash and Backstab.” He also toured campus, visited Workinman, a local cross-platform casual and mobile game development studio, and playtested the table-top game, Hexes!!, created by another group of RIT students. Gollan, far right, is an RIT 1998 alumnus from the College of Liberal Arts.

    Italian filmmaker Giovanna Taviani attended a reception at the University Gallery prior to the screening of her documentary Ritorni. She will be an artist-in-residence for two days, speaking with students studying Italian, film and anthropology. Her film will also be shown during the High Falls Film Festival in Rochester this week. http://highfallsfilmfestival.com/2015/

    RIT’s third annual Effective Access Technology Conference, held Nov. 10 in Gordon Field House and Activities Center, brought together researchers, service providers and developers to share ideas and innovative solutions for access and inclusion. Examples of technology on the market or in development that are helping people with physical or cognitive challenges were on display. Here, Christalyn Snyder of Viggi Kids, demonstrated some of the company’s inventive children’s products. Viggi Kids won the Al Sigl Community of Agencies Best Exhibit Award at the conference.

    RIT’s Tiger for Tigers club kicks off Tiger Awareness Week with events each day. Donations to help save tigers were collected on Monday in return for a whipped cream pie that could be thrown into the face of an RIT athlete.
