WHOLE ME, Inc., a non-profit leader in the provision of sign language interpreting services, is seeking a part-time experienced and highly motivated Staff Interpreter and Scheduler to provide the highest quality interpretation services for Deaf staff and community consumers in Central New York.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, interpreting assignments in house and in the community as needed, working with other members of the department in scheduling service appointments, updating the calendars for Sign Language Interpreters, maintaining accurate detailed records and completing interpreting administrative tasks as needed.
Candidate will be expected to work in our location when not in the field interpreting.
Candidates must be fluent in American Sign Language and English and consistently exhibit excellent internal and external customer service.
Schedule will be Monday – Friday with flexible, but pre-determined, hours. 4-5 hours per day. On Call evenings/weekends will be required in a 5-week rotation. This is a part time position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English
• Adhere to WHOLE ME, Inc.’s policies and procedures, and the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct
• Provide excellent customer service while maintaining a respectful and professional attitude with customers and colleagues; Ability to process incoming telephone calls and receive visitors while maintaining a friendly professional demeanor.
• Exhibit the ability to meet performance and customer service expectations with minimal supervision
• Enhance interpreting skills through continuing education and training
• Maintain, as applicable, compliance with any national, state, or local licensing and/or certification requirements
• Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the various interpreting needs in the community setting
• Possess the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment in a variety of settings and locations
• Effectively represent the WHOLE ME, Inc. when interacting with customers in the field
• Be prompt and prepared for each interpreting engagement
• Possess the ability to be flexible with assignment changes
• Ability to use technology for accurate reporting for billing and scheduling
• Demonstrate a willingness and ability to complete additional and other duties as assigned

• High Level of Efficiency: ability to coordinate many simultaneous moving pieces in order to ensure that the daily, weekly, monthly schedule runs smoothly.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to anticipate problems before they arise and/or be able to quickly and efficiently trouble-shoot a problem when it does arise.
• Critical-Thinking Skills: Ability to devise efficient and effective plans of action and assess those plans regularly.
• Punctuality and Attendance: Must demonstrate a strong history of punctuality and attendance.
• Collaboration Skills: Must be a team player – work well with others.
• Communication Skills: Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Technology Skills: Excellent computer skills, proficient in MS Word, Excel, scheduling software and ability to learn other applications as needed.
• Associate's, Bachelor's or advanced college degree in American Sign Language Interpretation required
• National Certification of NAD III, RID CI/CT, NIC preferred
• Interpreting skills are subject to a verification and screening process
• Valid driver's license, and personal vehicular insurance at the minimum state required level
