Applications are being accepted for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher in Bloomfield Hills Schools. This is a Bloomfield Hills Education Association (“BHEA”) bargaining unit position

RESPONSIBLE TO: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Valid Michigan teacher certificate with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Endorsement (SL)
• Must meet the definition of Highly Qualified teacher
• Additionally, applicants must have current knowledge and experience in:
o English Language
o Excellent American Sign Language skills
o Teaching Experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
o Understanding of Deaf culture and advocacy
o Experience with the development of student schedules, collaboration with general and special education teachers and support staff, development and facilitation of Individualized Education Plan (IEPs), REEDs, and a thorough understanding of IEP Compliance

COMPENSATION BENEFITS: Pursuant to the BHEA bargaining unit agreement.
