Job Description

High School Deaf/HH Special Day Class [1 of 2] on a comprehensive public HS campus.

The Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education Specialist is responsible for providing standards and goalbased instruction to early childhood, elementary, middle-school, or high school and transition-aged students who are deaf/hard of hearing (ages birth-22). The Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education Specialist is also responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing programs and services designed to address the unique needs of children who are identified as deaf or hard of hearing by observing, consulting and assisting educational staff members as they adapt classroom instructional strategies to meet their students' educational needs. Adheres to California State Standards and benchmarks in establishing instructional goals, and provides assessments that measure whether students meet standards, in a safe and academic school environment.

Requirements / Qualifications
The following items need to be submitted with the application:

4. All Test Scores - CSET, RICA, TPA's, Praxis, etc. [or comparable out-of-state Teacher examinations]

1. Must possess a valid California Education Specialist Credential, Deaf/Hard of Hearing [or comparable out-of-state DHH Teaching Cert.]
2. Must possess a valid English Learner Authorization [Can be obtained once in CA if applicant's state does not require this authorization.]
3. Must be proficient in American Sign Language (SLPI, Sign Language Proficiency Interview or an alternative testing method accepted by the applicant's credentialing program that proves fluency in ASL)
