Rocky Mountain Deaf School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary ASL Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and assess American Sign Language (ASL) instruction for middle and high school students using a bilingual instructional approach. This role includes evaluating students' receptive and expressive sign communication abilities, supporting individualized learning plans, and collaborating with instructional staff to enhance ASL education within the school. In addition, act as a sign language resource to instructional staff related to language use, variation, technical signs, communication strategies, within the Secondary department. Develop, implement and support individualized practices for achieving learning outcomes for students with specific needs based on the Individual Education Plan (IEP) as required by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Best practices in ASL instruction and knowledge of language development needed. Collaborating with the Secondary instructional team as well as the ASL Specialist on an ongoing basis is inherent in this position.

Teaching responsibilities include:

*Teach ASL Language Arts to middle and high school students in a classroom setting.
*Develop and implement lesson plans and ASL/Bilingual curriculum tailored to student needs.
*Create an inclusive learning environment with individualized instruction for diverse learning styles.
*Act as an ASL resource for secondary instructional staff regarding language use, variation, technical signs, and communication strategies.
*Conduct ASL assessments for students and communicate outcomes with students, teaching teams, and families.
*Support students and staff in learning about Deaf history, Deaf culture, and Deafhood.
*Maintain student data to track progress toward IEP goals and learning objectives.
*Write, implement, and assess Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and serve as a member of the IEP team.
*Actively participate in professional learning communities and collaborate with fellow educators.
*Maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress.
*Assist in organizing and participating in the Deaf Festival Committee and related events.

REQUIREMENTS:

*Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Sign Language Education or a related field
*Colorado Standard or Provisional Teaching Licensure, with a Deaf Education endorsement (required by September 1, of the year hired)
*Fluency in written English required
*Fluency in American Sign Language required
