RIT welcomes 2018 class of Destler/Johnson scholars
RIT will welcome the ninth class of Destler/Johnson Rochester City Scholars at a ceremony on Monday. Since 2010, the program has provided more than 200 graduates of the Rochester City School District and Rochester charter schools with the opportunity to attend RIT tuition-free. -

RIT’s Upward Bound Classic program wrapped up its first year with a residential summer program that provided Rochester-area high schoolers a taste of college, including living on RIT’s campus, completing academic workshops, visiting other area colleges and speaking with community leaders. -

RIT team identifies Frederick Douglass land deed
A research team from RIT has identified a land deed dating from the Civil War that shows abolitionist Frederick Douglass purchased property in what is now downtown Rochester. The deed is a revelation to scholars seeking to understand Douglass’s role as a businessman and landholder in Rochester. -

The Rochester Prep High School graduating class of 25 students received 96 college acceptances, and 100 percent of these students will attend college in the fall--three of whom will attend RIT. -

Researchers and domestic violence advocates at RIT and Resolve of Greater Rochester created an avatar named RITa to provide “on demand” domestic violence expertise in primary care settings.
