Get ready for the Imagine RIT: Creativity and Innovation Festival—an extraordinary event that celebrates the creative and innovative spirit of RIT’s students, faculty, and staff! This festival is an amazing opportunity for visitors of all ages to explore the wide range of RIT’s talent through interactive presentations, hands-on demos, exhibitions, performing arts, and groundbreaking research projects.
This yearly event will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the Rochester campus.!
If your team wants the chance to present your project to thousands of visitors at Imagine RIT, follow the proposal guidelines to be considered for this exciting opportunity.
Proposal Guidelines:
1. Eligibility:
- Open to all students enrolled at RIT global campuses.
- Teams must consist of no more than 3 students and one faculty advisor/mentor (optional).
- The teams can be made up of students from the same campus or from different campuses working together on a project.
2. Proposal Submission:
- The deadline for proposal submissions is January 20, 2025.
- Proposals must be submitted using the official form.
- You may save and edit your responses before final submission.
- Do not submit incomplete "test" proposals with placeholder text like 'aaa' or 'tttt'. If you are curious about the information you'll be asked to provide in the form, please check this PDF.
3. Project Considerations:
- Transportability: Can your project be easily transported from your home campus to Rochester, NY? If not, consider if it can be recreated within a limited timeframe and with limited resources.
- Budget: Each team will receive up to $600USD to purchase materials for the exhibit. For any costs exceeding this limit, you must request additional funding from your home campus to cover the extra expenses.
- Interactivity and Duration: Ensure your project can be explained and experienced within a 5-minute timeframe. Projects should allow hundreds of visitors to interact with them over the course of a few hours.
- Clarity and Accessibility: Your project should be understandable to people outside your field of study. Consider whether it will be engaging and accessible to a wide audience, from a 10-year-old to an 80-year-old, and everyone in between. Ensure that the key ideas and concepts can be easily grasped by visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
- Exhibit Restrictions:
- No drones are allowed inside the exhibition space.
- Exhibits requiring visitors to leave and return to complete an experience will not be accepted.
- The space that cannot be darkened, so it is not suitable for projections o any other instance that require darkness.
- A project that uses 'open-air audio' can be challenging because of the large space and the high number of people. However, headphone audio use is ok.
4. Campus Representation:
Consider how your project is related to the location of your home campus and how it represents the unique qualities and innovation coming from your campus.
5. Selection Process:
- Proposals will be reviewed by a committee with representatives from each RIT global campus.
- One team from each RIT global campus will be selected to participate in the Imagine RIT Festival.
- The selected teams will be announced on January 27, 2025.
6. Winning Team Sponsorship:
- The winning team will have their flight, stay, meals, and transportation covered for the duration of the festival.
- If a B1/B2 US visa is required to attend the festival, visa expenses will be the responsibility of the student and faculty/mentor.
