Position Summary
The Accounting Clerk oversees accounting functions such as accounts payable, account receivable, and updating monthly schedules on a day-to-day basis. This includes keeping financial records updated, preparing reports, and reconciling bank statements using current accounting software programs. This position reports to our Lead Accountant.
Responsibilities
Establish, review, maintain records and of accounts, and input entries into the proper accounts.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts.
Document and ensure the proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
Calculate, post business transactions, process invoices, verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records, and provide other clerical support necessary to pay the obligations of the organization.
Clarify any questionable invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures.
Process expense reports in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with departmental procedures.
Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
Assist in month and year-end closing.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
2-4 years of professional experience in accounting
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
Expert with Excel, Google Sheet, Quickbooks
Strong attention to detail and thoroughness
Ability to work in a multicultural fast-paced environment
Comfortable with working alone and in team-based settings
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
Strong communication skills
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Solid knowledge and understanding of the Deaf culture
