Job Description:
CSD Learns is a grant-based program that produces educational materials and
resources in ASL for learning in order to advance deaf and hard of hearing
people’s quality of life at the individual and community level. CSD Learns
has created opportunities for K-12 educators and students by bringing STEM
education and financial literacy into their classrooms through partnerships
with General Motors and Wells Fargo Foundation. Similar opportunities were
generated for adult learning in career preparation courses for state
agencies. Through our continued partnerships with state and government
agencies and corporations, we are seeing an increased demand for employment
preparation courses as a result of the growing success of the mentorship
model.

Job Description Summary
Employment Preparation (EP) Coaches are mentors who provide high quality
support to career courses and training curricula for multiple federal,
state-funded, and private programs by utilizing technology, training
materials, and American Sign Language. The EP Coach will engage with a wide
range of deaf and hard of hearing adults to build resumes, fill out
applications, and improve their interview skills. The EP Coach will promote
the development of appropriate job negotiation and behavioral awareness to
course participants. The EP Coach will offer feedback and guidance in ASL and
encourage learners to develop positive relationships with their employers and
co-workers to enrich their professional experiences. Each mentoring session
may run from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the nature of the sessions within
the employment preparation program.
Essential Functions
-Attend training for various virtual curricula used in employee preparation
courses within CSD Learns
-Attend training to use the scheduling and video conferencing platform
-Be receptive to support and feedback throughout the program(s)
-Schedule sessions during their own time and within reasonable timeframes to
accommodate participants after approval from the engagement platform manager
-Host, at minimum, 10 sessions a week to mentorship participants in the
program, and no more than 40 sessions a week
-Prepare for sessions, be punctual, and complete post-session analyses
immediately after each session with the platform participants
-Utilize multicultural and deaf pedagogical strategies and communication
techniques for effective outcomes
-Collaborate with the Digital Learning & Content Developer for post-program
review
-Communicate with the Instructional Designer for troubleshooting concerns
after each program completion

Work Environment:
This position is moderately self-directed and requires understanding and
compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. The position works
in a virtual office environment utilizing their own personal equipment. While
performing the duties of this job, the ASL Mentor is regularly required to
interact collaboratively with the program participants and program staff and
communicate via phone, videophone, text messaging or email.



Requirements:
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an
individual should demonstrate or have completed the following:
-Ability to demonstrate professionalism during mentoring sessions in virtual
learning courses
-Ability to utilize the technical platform after training, and have a
functional desktop or laptop computer with a webcam (absolutely no tablets or
iPhones) and high-speed internet
-Ability to produce reports and/or conduct post-session analysis
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and understanding of
intersectional deaf and hard of hearing experiences
-Cleared screening by CSD, including a background check prior to work
assignment
-Registration through Dripple to complete hiring paperwork

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Business, Counseling or
related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent
professional experience
-Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in the coaching
environment or similar field
-Experience with general online training tools and technologies such as LMS,
iCalender, video-conferencing tools, appointment apps or similar (PREFERRED)
-Ability to communicate proficiently using American Sign Language and
comfortable working with a range of deaf and hard of hearing individuals
