NSF: Launching Early-Career Academic Pathways in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences (LEAPS-MPS)

Synopsis of Program: With emphasis in helping to launch the careers of pre-tenure faculty in Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS) fields at minority-serving institutions (MSIs), predominantly undergraduate institutions (PUIs), and Carnegie Research 2 (R2) universities, and with the goal of achieving excellence through diversity, the Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences hereby announces a call for Launching Early-Career Academic Pathways (LEAPS-MPS) proposals.

DoE to Provide $12M for Research on Advanced Networking

Today, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced plans to provide up to $12 million for basic research on advanced 5G and quantum networking. Our modern life has been transformed by wireless and cellular networks, creating a world where humans all over the globe can communicate with each other instantaneously.

NIH Changes to Biosketch

NIH recently announced some changes to the Biosketch that are effective for due dates on or after May 25, 2021. Beginning with applications submitted on or after January 25, 2022, failure to follow this new guidance may cause NIH to withdraw the application from consideration.

NEH Summer Stipends Program Webinar

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) will be offering a webinar for administrators and prospective applicants, introducing this highly competitive, limited submission program focused on junior faculty, describing the application and nomination process, and offering application-writing suggestions. There will be a chance to ask questions, captions will be available, and the webinar will be recorded so others can watch it later.

Webinar for Junior Investigators Writing NIH Grants

This webinar, hosted by the National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN), will address best practices for effective grantsmanship, approaches for competitive applications, common mistakes made by junior investigators and tips to increase chances for success. The focus will be on NIH’s research grants, especially the common R01 funding mechanism.
